CEO: Rosneft hopes to find new field in Okhotsk Sea with Statoil
ST. PETERSBURG, Jun 15 (PRIME) -- Russian state-run oil major Rosneft plans to find a new field with resources of more than 100 million tonnes of oil equivalent in the Okhotsk Sea in the Arctic after joint geological exploration with Norway’s Statoil, Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin said Wednesday during the annual general meeting of the company’s shareholders.
“Rosneft will drill two exploratory wells together with Norway’s Statoil in the Magadan-1 and Lisyansky sites in the waters of the Sea of Okhotsk…The drilling of an exploratory well at the Lisyansky licensing site has been launched this month, the first 757 meters have been drilled, and we hope to find a field with resources exceeding 100 million tonnes of oil equivalent,” he said.
On Tuesday, Rosneft Vice President for Energy, Localization and Innovation Andrei Shishkin said that first results of joint drilling with Rosneft may be received in 20 days.
